Benefits of Regular Exercise

The benefits of regular exercise include maintaining flexibility, improved muscle strength and balance, a reduction in stress and an increase in self-confidence.  Remember to exercise at your own pace knowing that improvements will come, and be sure to choose a time to exercise when you are well rested, and learn to recognize when you are tired and need to stop.Exercise Tips

  • Depending on your physical condition, set aside 15-60 minutes for exercise as part of your daily routine.

  • Exercise during your "on-times" when you have the greatest amount of coordination and strength.

  • If your energy levels change from day-to-day, break your exercise periods into smaller periods as needed. For example, if you normally exercise for 30 minute a day when your energy is high, break your exercise routine into two 15-minute sessions on those days when your energy seems to be lower.

  • Before embarking on any exercise program, consult with your doctor as to what types of exercises would be suitable for your ability, and be sure to find an exercise that you really enjoy doing.

  • Do an adequate amount of stretching before you begin your exercises. Don't overdue it, and take the time to slowly build up your strength and endurance over time.

  • Rotate your exercises and listen to your favorite music, or read a book so you don't become bored.

  • Exercise with a friend who can help motivate and encourage you to be your best.
